Reason 1: DNA

Whilst agreeing that random patterns occur naturally by chance, DNA however, consists of code, which requires a designer. Ask Microsoft if it’s possible to have a computer without a technician

 Reason 2: Prayer

Try praying. What good is it when a mind is set to coincidence & disbelief regarding the positive outcome?

Reason 3: First cause

The law of cause & effect - in order to have an effect, there has to be a cause. Everything is caused by something.

Reason 4: Complexity

Mindless nothing cannot be responsible for complex something.

Reason 5: Limitations of science

Science can only be the detector of certain things. You cannot scientifically detect emotion, memory, thoughts etc., though scientifically we must. These things which do not consist of matter are beyond the detection of science.

Reason 6: Evolution is only a theory

Evolution has never been proved, which is why we call it the 'theory of evolution'

Reason 7: Atheism is based on faith

Atheism is a faith which has not been proved. The disbelievers have not witnessed anything to not believe in, whereas the believers believe because they have witnessed. There is no 'good news' to preach in atheism.

Reason 8: Atheists are angry with God

How much of the atheist's faith relies on anger with God as opposed to genuine disbelief in God?

Reason 9: Atheists the public school and society

Rapid increase in immorality, teen pregnancy, fighting, crime and disrespect for authoritarian figures and elderly.

  

Reason 10: Complexity of human life

How could the complexity of human life possibly evolve on its own accord out of mindless cells? Teleological argument

Reason 11: Complexity of the human mind

Reason 12: Life from non-life

 Atheists will argue everything and anything to prove God is a mythological sky creature. However, when it comes to how did life begin they conclude abiogenesis – that life popped out of nowhere. Somehow :/  

Reason 13: Food and drink

What/who knew that our hunger & thirst had to be catered for by the food & drink which we're supplied with? Perhaps God could have made us only to eat the same fruit and not gift us with an intelligence to cook and create all types of foods and drinks we actually enjoy. They are endless and from all different cultures.

Reason 14: The five known senses

Most of us are born with the five senses to detect our surroundings, which we're provided with.

Reason 15: Goldilocks and the habitable planet, part

What/who knew that had Earth been set nearer to the sun, we would burn up? Farther and freeze?

Reason 16: Oxygen and atmospheric pressure

As a scuba diver, I know pressure. Imagine if that pressure was on us all the time. I’m not sure our ear drums would be fond of that but the conditions are perfect for the opposite. Any larger or smaller and the atmosphere is a mess.

Reason 17: Complementarity of plant and animal life

What/who knew that we require the oxygen of plants, just as plants require the carbon dioxide of us?

The concept that life came about through sheer chance is as absurd & improbable as a tornado blowing through a junk yard, consequently assembling a Boeing 747!

Reason 19: The invisible and the supernatural

We are willing to believe in physically unseen waves that exist through the air, operating physical forces & appliances to work [sic], yet not supernatural God forces being responsible for the same.

Reason 20: Self-organization and entropy

Matter cannot organise itself. An uneaten tomato will not progress on its own accord to form a perfect pineapple. It will transform into mould, into disorganisation. The laws of evolution fall flat.

Reason 21: Darwin's deathbed conversion

Darwin went to seminary for a time and wrote about theistic beliefs. The story is that he spoke of Jesus Christ with his nurse before death. Although there is no evidence for the belief there is evidence for the journaling about God and time in seminary.

Reason 22: Morality

Where do our moral values held within our conscience come from? If the atheist is right, why then would we care about what we did?! If there is no God, then we've no-one to be accountable to.

 Reason 23: Man vs. animal 

If man has evolved from an animal, why doesn't he behave like an animal? Yet man is civilized. Anthropomorphic argument.

 Reason 24: Limitations of science

Science & logic do not hold all the answers - many people are aware of forces at work which we have no understanding of & no control over.

Reason 25: Biblical accounts

Much of the Bible deals with eyewitness accounts, written only 40 years after Jesus died. When the books in the New Testament were first around, there would have been confusion & anger if the books were not true.

Reason 26: Archaeology

From as early as 2000 BC, there is archaeological evidence to confirm many details we're provided with in the Bible.

Reason 27: Biblical prophecy

Not one single Biblical prediction can be shown as false, and the Bible contains hundreds.

Reason 28: The rejection of the Messiah by the Jewish people

If the Jewish people waited and recorded the wait for their coming Messiah, and he came, why would they kill him. Probably because the Bible prophecies that they would.

The Nation Of Israel

Israel is often used as an argument against God. Many find it difficult to believe in a God who would be partial to a "chosen people." Others find it even harder to believe in a God who would not protect His "chosen nation" from the boxcars, gas chambers, and ovens of Auschwitz and Dachau. Yet from the beginning of Old Testament history, Israel's future was prewritten. Together with other prophets, Moses predicted not only Israel's possession of the land but also her unparalleled suffering and dispersion throughout the whole earth, her eventual repentance, and then finally her last-days restoration (Deuteronomy 28-34; Isaiah 2:1-5; Ezekiel 37-38).

Reason 30: The acceptance of Jesus by the Gentile world

In Cults and false religions pop up and fizzle out every day. How could millions around the world from every age, race, background and gender believe in a crucified man from a slum called Nazareth? 

Reason 31: Biblical history

The evidence from literature & historical studies claim that Biblical statements are reliable details of genuine events. Although many push the Bible away as Myth, it is one of the most, if not the most, credible documents in human history.

Reason 32: Christianity and science in harmony

From the birth of science through to today, there is no evidence to claim that Christianity & science are in opposition. Many first scientists were Christians; Francis Bacon, Isaac [sic] Newton, Robert Boyle, to name a few, along with the many who stand by their work & faith today.

Reason 33: Science changes and The Bible doesnt

Science is constantly re correcting [sic] its findings. Past theories contradict certain beliefs which are held today. Our present 'discoveries' may change again in the future to rediscover how we originally came into existence. Although Atheists say we are holding onto Myth and they are finding new discoveries, Biblical faith works and hasn’t changed.

Reason 34: Abiogenesis

Evolution describes the way life possibly started, yet doesn't explain what made life start & why. Scientific questions fail to do that.

Reason 35: A bad lie?

The two people who discovered Jesus' empty tomb were peasant women. Women were very low on the social scale in first century Palestine, so in order to make the story fit, it would have made far more sense to claim that it were male disciples who had entered the tomb. But it wasn't - we're left with the historical & Biblical truth.

Reason 36: The person of Jesus Christ

There has never been a human being like Jesus. Atheists will say he never existed. Scholarly history when put on trial would conclude that not only did he exist, but he turned the world upside down. Although Islam is growing rapidly, it is by force, not in love and discipleship like Christianity.

Reason 37: When Atheists say the Bible is contradictory, they are always cheesy.

I’ve heard every excuse under heaven about why the Bible is not reliable. It’s been tampered with, its contradictory and so on. Failure to approach the text in the proper context and with a proper exegesis is normally the cause.

i.e John said Mary and Mary are at the tomb.

Matthew said Mary was at the tomb.

Luke says Johanna Mary and Mary were at the tomb. Silly

Reason 38: Biblical skeptics

There are many skeptics who didn't believe in Jesus before his crucifixion, and who were opposed to Christianity, yet turned to the Christian faith after the death of Jesus. Just as the many who continue to do so today. C.s Lewis is an example.

 Reason 39: Einstein quote

Albert Einstein said; "A legitimate conflict between science & religion cannot exist. Science without religion is lame; religion without science is blind".

Reason 40: The tomato thrower

A speaker in Hyde Park who was attacking belief in God, claimed that the world just happened. As he spoke, a soft tomato was thrown at him. "Who threw that?" He said angrily. A cockney from the back of the crowd replied; "No-one threw it - it threw itself!"

Reason 41: Occam's supernatural razor

It is easier to believe that God created something out of nothing than it is to believe that nothing created something out of nothing.

Reason 42: How-vs.-why Hawking quote

Stephen Hawkins [sic] has admitted; "Science may solve the problem of how the universe began, but it cannot answer the question: why does the universe bother to exist?"

Reason 43: Evolved vs. evolving

If we are the product of evolution - by sheer accident, chance,then we are still evolving? Why aren’t things evolving right in front of our eyes? Did apes stop evolving?

Reason 44: Liar or Lord?

Jesus Christ is either who he says he is, or he is the biggest con man history has ever known.

Reason 45: The Brain

The human brain...simultaneously processes an amazing amount of information. Your brain takes in all the colors and objects you see, the temperature around you, the pressure of your feet against the floor, the sounds around you, the dryness of your mouth, even the texture of your keyboard. Your brain holds and processes all your emotions, thoughts and memories. At the same time your brain keeps track of the ongoing functions of your body like your breathing pattern, eyelid movement, hunger and movement of the muscles in your hands.

Reason 46: Evil is a moral truth

Premise 1: If God does not exist, objective moral values do not exist.
Premise 2: But evil does exist. Rape, murder, child abuse are objectively wrong.
Conclusion: If that is true, then God exists.

 Reason 47: Death

Why should we need to die if there is no fall from God? We could have evolved into energy and existed for long drawn out periods of time.

Reason 48: Music and Art

Humans have amazing abilities that have nothing to with survival. I never saw a monkey play a saxophone, but I did see one fire off am ak-47. Check it out on you tube.

Reason 49: Love

There is a love that humans possess that is greater and deeper than that of the animal kingdom. Although animals have strong emotion, any true skeptic can realize there is something greater to human love. Love can speak for itself

Reason 50: Human Testimony – How did Jesus (God) change your life?

 I know he changed mine drastically … and I’m not insane…my desires are changed and I went from hating God to loving Jesus Christ.

Anthropic Constant 1: Oxygen Level
On earth, oxygen comprises 21 percent of the atmosphere. That precise figure is an Anthropic Constant that makes life on earth possible. If oxygen were 25% fires would erupt spontaneously, if it were 15%, human beings would suffocate.

Anthropic Constant 2: Atmospheric Transparency
If the atmosphere were less transparent, not enough solar radiation would reach the earth’s surface. If it were more transparent we would be bombarded with far roo much solar radiation down here. (In addition to atmospheric transparency, the atmospheric composition of precise levels of nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide and ozone are in themselves Anthropic constants).

Anthropic Constant 3: Moon-Earth Gravitational Interaction
If the interaction were greater than it currently is, tidal effects on the oceans, atmosphere, and rotational period would be too severe. If it were less, orbital changes would cause climatic instabilities. In either event, life on earth would be impossible.

Anthropic Constant 4: Carbon Dioxide level
If the CO2 level were higher than it is now, a runaway greenhouse effect would develop (we’d all burn up). If the level were lower than it is now, plants would not be able to maintain efficient photosynthesis (we’d all suffocate).

Anthropic Constant 5: Gravity
If the gravitational force were altered by 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000001 percent, our sun would not exist, and, therefore neither would we. Talk about precision.

Anthropic Constant 6: Centrifugal Force
If the centrifugal force of planetary movements did not precisely balance the gravitational forces, nothing could be held in orbit around the sun.

Anthropic Constant 7: Rate Of Expansion
If the universe had expanded at a rate one millionth more slowly than it did, expansion would have stopped and the universe would have collapsed on itself before any stars had formed. If it had expanded faster, then no galaxies would have formed.

Anthropic Constant 8: Speed Of Light
Any of the laws of physics can be described as a function of the velocity of light (now defined to be 299,792,458 meters per second). Even a slight variation in the speed of light would alter the other constants and preclude the possibility of life on earth.

Anthropic Constant 9: Water Vapor Levels.If water vapor levels in the atmosphere were greater than they are now, a runaway greenhouse effect would cause temperatures to rise too high for human life. If they were less, an insufficient greenhouse effect would make the earth to cold to support human life.

Anthropic Constant 10: Jupiter.
If Jupiter were not in it’s current orbit, the earth would be bombarded with space material. Jupiter’s gravitational field acts as a cosmic vacuum cleaner, attracting asteroids and comets that might otherwise strike earth.

Anthropic Constant 11: The Earth’s Crust.
If the thickness of the earth’s crust were greater, too much oxygen would be transferred to the crust to support life. If it were thinner, volcanic and tectonic activity would make life impossible.

Anthropic Constant 12: The Earth’s Rotation.
If the rotation of the earth took longer than 24 hours, temperature differences would be too great between night and day. If the rotation period were shorter, atmospheric wind velocities would be to great.

Anthropic Constant 13: Axis Tilt.
The 23-degree axis tilt of the earth is just right. If the tilt were altered slightly, surface temperatures would be too extreme on earth.

Anthropic Constant 14: Atmospheric Discharge.
If the atmospheric discharge (lightning) rate were greater, there would be too much fire destruction; if it were less there would be little nitrogen fixings in the soil.

Anthropic Constant 15: Seismic Activity.
If there were more seismic activity, much more life would be lost; if there were less, nutrients on the ocean floors and in river runoff would not be cycled back to the continents through tectonic uplift. (yes, even earthquakes are necessary to sustain life as we know it).

Just a thought - What if he gave the nod to kill your child

Acts 9 may be one of the most important chapters in all of the Bible. Think about the people throughout the centuries who have read Isaiah 53, Psalm 23, Romans 8, John 3:16 and even Revelation 22. Not too many people would know Acts 9 off the top of their head but the depths of this chapter may compare to the deepest of earths oceans - the Mariana trench off of the coast of the Philippines. Imagine taking a submersible like Alvin, the ocean robot that found the Titanic and many other famous shipwrecks throughout the depths of the worlds oceans. The depths that Alvin has gone through do not even hold a candle to this chapter categorized timelessly as Acts 9.

Who are we? We do many things that if they were broadcast on a big screen at the Bank Atlantic Center we may never come out of our houses again. Even now we find ourselves doing that which we despise and not doing that good which we desire. Interestingly enough students have such a strange perception of Theology teachers, they think temptation doesn't bark at us and sin is something we don't partake in. They consider us saints, professional wrestlers who have all the demoniacs pinned to the ground. I have decimated the 10 commandments and if grace is an ocean I could say I am flat on my back at the depths of it. What I deserve is death- but in Christ we don't get what we deserve - Through all these things however I cant say that I ever gave the nod to have another man brutally murdered. Now don't get me wrong, I understand the Sermon on the Mount, I understand that I have murdered in my depraved heart through my hatred and gossip. This is not to compare myself to Saul of Tarsus and come out as more righteous, but for the sake of illustration, I never gave the nod to have someone's son brutally murdered.

The first Christian martyr Stephen's sermon is the longest in the book of Acts (Acts 6)- his passion poured out similar to the pouring out of Paul the apostles life for the sake of Christ and his gospel. His sermon is loaded with scripture and evangelistic zeal drafting an entire outline of Israel's history. Stephen was a man who was loaded with the gifts of the spirit. Nevertheless Acts 7 presses up against Acts 6 each time we close our Bibles to pray and it will be there pressed against Acts 6 echoing through all of eternity. It is a horrible chapter and yet a chapter filled with evidence that man could never have written the scriptures without the Holy spirits intervention. Stephen is attacked by men who are grinding their teeth at his offensive gospel message and large stones are hurled at him tearing his flesh from the bone ending his life as he prays for the forgiveness of his enemies - one of which was the man who gave the nod to execute him - that mans name is Saul of Tarsus - soon to be the apostle Paul. Saul was literally standing there watching Stephen's murder, he watched the blood pour out of him and he witnessed his last breath and his open eyes with no soul left behind them. God answered Stephen's prayer offering forgiveness to Saul - the one who gave the nod to murder the son of a precious mother. A mother who carried and nurtured Stephen in her blessed womb for 9 months, a women who raised a man of God who's name will forever be recorded in the Word of the living God. And this dirtbag named Saul gave the ok to have him murdered brutally in the dirt blown streets of Israel.

But God does not leave us with a story of the first dead Christian and a ferocious murderer. He gives us Acts 9. The apostle Paul's conversion.

Heres the point - Paul more than likely ministered to the families of the very ones he had killed as he traveled throughout the Mediterranean planting churches with the gospel of Christ. Perhaps Stephen's mother was a member of the churches of Corinth, Galatia or Colossi or maybe she encountered him at Antioch or near the temple in Jerusalem. Perhaps Paul when he said I forget that which is behind was referring to the countless bodies he left dead for their faith in Christ? Grace reaches so deep that millions of Christians through the ages have come to faith through a man named Paul who wrote the majority of the New Testament while inspired by the living God after he gave the nod to kill someone's blessed son. Perhaps he looked in the face of Stephen's mother and the forgiveness of Christ surrounded them like the dark oceans surround the Alvin submersible? Saul gave the nod, but God got a hold of him.

You will not find anything like this in the Koran, in the Apocrypha or in the Bhagavad Gida. You will not find grace like this in the book of Mormon or in the New World Translation carried by a Jehovah's Witness. This is real grace. Think about it, would you want to hear the epistles of Paul read in your 1st century church if he had given the nod to kill your child? What if he showed up at the entrance to your church, an exterminator of Christians. Only the grace of Christ could give you the ability to forgive a man like this. Only the grace of Christ can give you the ability to forgive yourself. I don't care where you have been - We can never out sin the grace of God. If you are a Christian who looks down your nose at others, you have not yet drank the depths of his Amazing grace. You are who you are because of his mercy, not because you woke up one morning and decided to make a decision that can be recanted a few years later or to be a morally better person. God comes and gets us, just like he did Paul - When God captures us he consumes us and he changes us permanently. Although we remember giving the ok to sin and murder God gives us the ok to charity, forgiveness and life and creates a desire in us to extend this to others. Saul was a taker of life - Paul was a giver of life - life through the preaching of the precious gospel.

We have both been standing in the sand blown streets of Israel giving the nod to evil and to death, but Christ gave his life in those same streets, offering his life unto death so that we can be forgiven. Just as Stephen's mother had to do, extend that forgiveness to others because we have no idea, some day that enemy may be another Paul. One mans life was taken in sin, but the life of Christ was given for redemption -Think about it Stephen didn't know Saul would be Paul but I can assure you, they know it now- pray for your enemies and forgive those who persecute you. Your past does not define you - press on towards Christ.

The redeemer is one who was foreordained before the foundation of the world. It imports an act of the will of Christ – that this is what should be.

We who believe in him have the comfort that comes with his appearing then and the appearing that is to come.

After his humiliation of becoming man and suffering unto earth God raised him up to the glory that he had from the creation of the world.

The decree of God to send Christ to be a mediator was from everlasting – God had his purposes in our ransom long before he revealed them to us in Grace.

1. Our redemption is paid for by the father –

The origin of money and its uses dates back to Mesopotamia 3000 years Bc if not sooner. The earliest form of payment was due to law regarding fines for wrongdoing in society.

As time went on certain goods and commodities were attached with a price tag.

Peter begins v 18 by reminding us that we were not bought with what this world might regard as valuable.

Value is based on worth and worth causes the item to wither go up in price or to have low prices or no price at all.

Hungry howies for instance has a simple pizza that is only 5 dollars on Wednesdays. Its simply dough and bread and its value is fairly low

The Pizza Royale however at Dominci royolas is 4900 american dollars.

The 12 inch pizza pie is densely packed with an assortment of some of the world’s most expensive food ingredients, such as lobster marinated in cognac, caviar soaked in champagne, sunblush tomato sauce, Scottish smoked salmon, venison medallions, prosciutto from Italy, and vintage balsamic vinegar. In addition to all these fine ingredients, it’s topped with a significant amount of edible 24-carat gold flakes.

Wagyu Japanese steak – 3000 American dollars

Employing the most traditional production methods, Kobe beef comes from cows that are allegedly fed only beer and massaged by hand to ensure a tenderness and marbling beyond compare

Just a few of the worlds most expensive things ever include

1. B2 bomber – 2.2 billion dollars

2. Alaska pipeline - 8 billion dollars built in 77

3. International space station – 157 billion dollars

Lastly the most expensive people to ever live – All Americans

1. Bill gates – well over 100 billion

2. Henry Ford – 190 billion

3. Andrew Carnegie- 300 billion

4. Rockefeller 320 billion dollars

These mentioned above are all corruptible things, obviously food is to be eaten, material foundations and space stations will die out and people will meet their maker without 320 billion dollars to help them in the final verdict.

These are all perishable things and dross and they do not compare with the price that was paid for us

All this to say that if we are bought by the father than what exactly was our redemption worth?

The supreme irony of the Christian faith is that we have been redeemed both by God and also from God.

1. God is willing to pay this price because of the value of his children. The reason God didn’t buy is with silver or Gold is because of our outstanding value in his eyes and so his price is of the most value – mainly his son.

A. Our value - “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.

B. What are worth – Christ’s ransom and his blood which has no value it is priceless

For our redemption and ransom the price was everything God had to offer

Similar to Paul “I have been poured out like a drink offering”

Gods payment was himself. “1 Cor 6:20- bought with a price

Matthew 20:28- The son of man came to give his life as a ransom for many.

Ransom is the same root context of the broader word redemption.

When we think of ransom we think of a kidnapper who steals a child and then asks money in return for the child. This is similar to how the Bible deals with ransom, we need to pay some price to be released from bondage and slavery.

God demands a payment for our wrongdoing and this payment is Christ who volunteered to stand in our place.

What makes him so special that his blood should ransom us is that he is pre existent and eternal and glorious – he is a glorious person who humbled himself to such a degree that his blood was so precious that we can rely on it and hope in him and we have eternal life.

Conversion is tasting the beverage of redemption and realizing there is nothing like it in the world making it our sole desire.

V 19- but with the precious blood of Christ like that of a lamb without spot or blemish.

Ransomed from God

The supreme irony of the Christian faith is that we have been redeemed both by God and also from God.

1. Futility – Solomon reminds us in the great book Ecclesiastes that all of live without Christ is vain and futile. The epistles constantly teach us to remain faithful and not fall back into the vanity of nothingness or to follow the idols of this world.

2. Wrath of God to come – 1 Thessalonians

“even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come”

3. God himself – “Nothing is scarier in the universe than a holy God”

For the unbeliever this day is a day of darkness with no light and for the believer it is a day of light with no darkness.

How will anyone escape if they neglect so great a salvation?

Redeemed forever–

A. Immediate presence of Jesus

When we speak of riches these things are not necessarily bad things. Enjoying an expensive dinner or using space stations and such are all good things, this is Gods world and we are to enjoy the goodness of it at times.

To live is Christ indeed –

But the ultimate hope of the Christian is the immediate presence of Christ. Christ promises this himself

“that where I am, there you may be also” – John 14

B. Adopted by Christ

What kind of love is this that we should be called the children of God?

C. Promise of Heaven eternally and the grace of death

Dr. Sproul tells a story of his father who suffered a slow death of deteriorating over three years. He had several debilitating strokes causing him to be paralyzed and having pure white hair. He was 52 years old but he looked 80. Every day he sat in his chair until dinner time when RC would hoist his hands over his shoulders and drag him to the head of the dinner table. To maintain his dignity he sat at the head of the table for diner every night until his death.

After his death RC had nightmares that made him wake up in a cold sweat – the nightmare was that he saw his dad but he kept on dying and he couldn’t stop him from being sick. The dream happened to him about 30 times – watching his father sick and dying over and over again.

One night he dreamed that his father was there but it was a new body – the dream was so intense that he remembered the appearance even with his eyes open.

D. We shall see him as he is

The greatest pain of Dr sproul’s life was comforted with none other than the word of God and its promises of our ransom and the benefits of it.

What we are promised as Christians is an uninterrupted unmediated direct apprehension of the living God upon death. We are going to be like him and see him as he is.

We are saved by God, from God, for God

18 – knowing that you were ransomed (BY GOD) from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers (From God) , not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ like that of a lamb without spot or blemish. (For God)
