Thoughts ...

The Pastors ministry is based on his love for Christ. When we struggle in ministry we remember how we love Christ, we are compelled by our love for him. When we are slandered, well, so was Christ and so we wash feet instead of taking revenge. The pastor is the shepherd, he knows better than the sheep, he must get used to the slander. It is better to be talked about than not to be talked about at all. The pastor bears fruit and his work will always and forever be critiqued. The words of Christ were gossiped about, but the gossip is lost to history and the words of God remain.
Following Christ is to imitate Christ. We are all faced with the crossroads, how closely are we following Christ. Ultimate question, do we love Christ? Pastoring is the highest calling but without a love for Christ you cannot continue. The ministry is not a profession, it is constant, the very person you are, all day, all night and in all situations. Either Christ is your wealth or its time to find earthy money and temporal riches somewhere else. You will be hated, you will be mocked, you will be run out and trampled on, but if Christ is your audience then the love compels you to go on, for him, for his glory and if the work is God's work, genuine scripture preaching heart passion work, not for personal gain fame or pride shows, but real work, then your rewards will be forever, they will be a gift from Christ, after all, isn't everything the Pastor has a gift from Christ. Christ is the gift, he is the reason, he is everything.
