Preached this to 2011 Senior class last chapel

God’s everlasting Love
the gold of God’s grace
Theologians say that if they had to be stranded on an island Romans would be the book to take.
Some preachers have taken up to and over 15 years of there ministry to preach through this very book.
The greatest ending to the greatest chapter in the greatest epistle in the greatest book in the world
Nothing can separate us from the love of Jesus, which is God’s everlasting love
This is not an emotion but a deep loyal conviction that is unshakable and irrevocable
Romans 8:28-39
1. If God is for us who can be against us?
2. He who did not spare his own son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also give us all things?
3. Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect?
4. If it is God who justifies, who is it to condemn?
5. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
Be of good cheer, because I have overcome the world.
A victory has been won, Christ has conquered and so we can be of good cheer.
31- What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
- Sovereignty is the ultimate source of comfort for the believer; God is in control of all things.
What does it feel like when someone is against you?
What does it feel like when someone is for you?
- God is for you - whatever happens to me I know that God is for me
Who can be against us?
The whole world? They hated me and they will hate you.
Who can prevail against us? All kinds of people will be against you but no one will prevail.
Genesis 50:20- what man meant for harm, God means for good
32 - He who did not spare his own son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also give us al things?
33 – Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect?
- nobody –
- What’s the point of his question? – Everyone lays slander against us
Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake, Rejoice and be glad for great is your reward in heaven.
34. If it is God who justifies, who is it to condemn?
Christ was condemned for me so there is nothing left?
The only one who can condemn me has condemned me in Christ. The condemnation is over, it is finished.
Once we are justified, who can condemn or charge us?
Read 34-
the gospel in a nutshell - Christ is the judge of the world
The lawyer is the judge, the judge is your friend.
Advocate and payer – All of this is designed by God for you
What are you worried about? Who cares what people say, who cares what we face we are free in Christ, he died, hes risen, sin is gone and were free!
35. Who then shall separate us from the love of Christ?
v- 37- More than conquers
-huper – nekon
hyper- conquering –
Latin – super winsamous- Super conquering – Supermen!
What other empire has infiltrated this entire world? Our kingdom is not of this world.
It is the Christian who has the power, the Christian has the domination, the Christian who wins!
Conquer- not blood thirsty-
We conquer all these things. The true Christian suffers and overcomes.
1. Tribulation -
2. Distress
3. Persecution
4. Famine
5. Nakedness
6. Danger
7. Sword
Christ is our all
38- List of things that might rupture our relationship with Christ
- wedding vows richer for poorer, sickness health, better for worse or anything else
Paul wants us to be sure
1. death – severed at the cross, Death is a uniter, unites us to Christ- death died.
2. life- following the world, troubles- life without his son – life will separate us but not from the love of God.
3. angels – power of spiritual beings
4. rulers- supernatural or demonic powers
5. present things – Time /Space – pain and suffering (he is in control)
6. future things- nothing in the life to come , seasons of change
7. powers – no power
8. height - no place, spanning the universe and beyond
9. depth - Where can we flee from God’s spirit?
10. anything else in creation - belabor the point (Nothing!) (Nothing)
This is everything except God, the one who loves you
Take your graduation hats and throw them in the air –

Entirely and everlastingly and inseparably and unceasingly loved in Jesus Christ.
One ounce of affection to infinity - theology and mathematics
Feed my sheep – Our way of saying we love you
As teachers we endure things to grow you, early mornings, late nights, parent conferences when you did wrong we have to meet, tardy’s, disrespect, false accusations.
We at some point have let you down but we do love you.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
He will never let you down and his love will always be there
Jesus’ love is demonstrated in costly sacrifice, its not lip service –
The absolute demonstration of his love was himself. This is the love you are loved with, never leaves never forsakes.
God will never leave us or forsake us, never will I leave you never will I forsake you – both testaments
When you are persuaded that Jesus loves you - you can face anything in life or in death. You are ready to meet God.
Anything in life- violently shaken but never cast down and defeated
Anything demonic – defy every adversity and evil that comes your way
Anything evil or tyrannical
Your heights or your losses and depths mountains and valleys
